PSG Defeats Marseille in a Shootout to Lift French Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now secured the prestigious cup on 14 different occasions.

The Parisian giants required a dramatic leveler followed by a successful spot-kick decider to get past their arch-rivals in the Gulf and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup title.

The European champions seemed to be coasting towards a straightforward win in the match between the Ligue 1 winners and the French Cup winners after Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring in the opening stages.

However, the southern French side fired twice late to seize a shock lead. First, Mason Greenwood converted from the penalty spot, before the defender inadvertently turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable twist of fortune, Goncalo Ramos snatched a crucial leveler in the dying seconds to send the contest into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the key figure, saving crucial kicks from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all scored successfully for PSG to complete a convincing shootout victory.

Now 14-time champions Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after achieving a domestic double, have now lifted this competition for the 12th time in the last 13 seasons.
