Vinted Members Share Frustration Regarding Sizing Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The second-hand shopping app has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Social Media Response
Countless users and merchants are posting online claiming that product pages now present a different size category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches similar services.
They have suggested members to examine their items and update the measurements by hand if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Modifications
Previously, the sizes had both one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
User Experiences
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they may become frustrated," she explained.
Necessary Adjustments
Another shopper, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".
"This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she said.
Service Background
The app has more than 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
